Nylon dog leash rope has a smooth, supple feel that glides easily through leash hardware and clasps. It is known for its excellent strength and resistance to abrasion, holding up well to daily use, which is why it is one of the most popular materials for making dog leashes, collars and matching sets. Keep in mind that nylon does not float and can shrink slightly when it gets wet, so it is worth rinsing and air-drying a finished leash after a swim rather than leaving it wet.

Sizes and specifications

Our nylon dog leash rope is sold per metre in three diameters: 6mm (32-strand), 8mm (40-strand) and 10mm (48-strand). Thinner 6mm rope suits smaller or lighter dogs and slimmer leash hardware, while 10mm gives a thicker, more substantial grip for larger or stronger dogs. Every diameter is available in both solid colours and multicolour designs.

Nylon, PPM or rPET?

Nylon is the softest and most flexible of the three rope materials we offer, with the smoothest handfeel against skin and fur. PPM rope is more water resistant and floats, making it a practical choice for dogs that swim regularly, while rPET rope is made from recycled polyester for a more sustainable option.
