rPET dog leash rope is made from recycled polyester, made in Europe, with a slightly stiffer texture that gives a good grip in the hand. It is known for its excellent strength and abrasion resistance, which makes it a popular material for dog leashes, collars and matching sets. rPET is resistant to water and responds well to UV rays, holding its colour better in direct sunlight than some of our other rope materials. Keep in mind that it does not float, so a leash left in water will sink rather than drift on the surface.

rPET, nylon or PPM?

rPET is the most sustainable of the three rope materials we offer, made from recycled polyester, and it holds up best of the three under prolonged sun exposure. Like nylon, it does not float. PPM is the most water-practical option since it floats and resists moisture well, though it fades faster in direct sunlight. Nylon has the softest, smoothest handfeel of the three.
