Selma Splicing Fid / Needle (set of 4 needle)

Patented tool for splicing PPM D.B. and PPM Flat Core. Professional quality, made of stainless steel. Intended primarily for splicing braided line. A splicing manual is included. The Selma Fids are a must for the serious splicer. These are constructed out of stainless steel and have a hole on the end so that when you push this out of the rope you can put a pin in there to pull it through. The smallest size in this kit works great for picking the core out of rope on double braid. Since the Selma Fids nest inside each other, they take up very little space making it an ideal addition to any bag of splicing tools.

How to choose the right fid:

For PPM flat/hollowbraid, use the following rule:
Fid size × 1.5 ≈ rope diameter

Here’s a quick guide:

• 4 mm fid → 6 mm PPM rope

• 5.5 mm fid → 8 mm PPM rope

• 7.5 mm fid → 10–11 mm PPM rope

• 10 mm fid → 12 mm PPM rope

• 13 mm fid → 16–18 mm PPM rope

This gives a close fit without forcing, ensuring the rope slides cleanly during splicing.
